Paul Donaldson, The Rhythm Kings drummer writes this song because that’s what his girlfriend Shinelle Gastrangler said to him when she walked out and slammed the door. In the “Can’t Stop It” movie, the main character Jimmy Rogers is in a battle to break from his Father’s belief “Life is a cruel joke barely worth living”. Red has felt this way ever since, as a teenager, he was blamed for the death of this own Father.
